Feature Roof Lighting - Trinity Shopping Centre, Leeds

Posted in Projects

Client:  Land Securities

Scope of Works:  Design, supply installation and control of feature roof lighting

The massive £350m development of Leeds City Centre is the most important city centre development in the UK in the last 10 years and here at Studiotech we are very proud to have been involved in this scheme.

The jewel in the crown of this development is the sweeping glass dome that dominates the centre.  This stunning feature consists of 982 individual LED lights all specified, designed and installed by Studiotech specifically for this prestigious project.  Each lamp is fully addressable and allows for dynamic and mood enhancing lightshows to be displayed, thereby enticing the visitor and enhancing the whole retail experience.

Studiotech was responsible for installing the whole of the feature lighting system at Trinity Leeds, including the LED nodes, the bespoke containment, the control system, network cabling, power/data cables, Ethernet links and the field enclosures.  This intricate installation involved a high degree of detailed co-ordination with all trades concerned: scaffolding, roofing, construction, glaziers, flooring contractors, electricians, BMS specialists, network services and painters.  Our highly qualified installation team undertook extra training to enable them to use the access equipment necessary for them to work at a height of 30 meters to complete the install.

It is no surprise that the lighting scheme at Trinity Leeds won best large retail project of the year at The Lighting Design Awards 2014 thus underlining the quality of design, manufacture and installation by Studiotech.
